Okay. I seem to be doing all the late discoveries but then, it’s better late than never right?
Indego Africa, is the name of the organization I came across, which is dedicated solely to ‘rescuing’ Rwandan women from poverty. And this is what they came up with:
1. FIRST, Indego Africa imports, markets and sells vibrant handicrafts made by its partner Rwandan artisans in retail stores across the U.S. and on its ONLINESTORE. These products provide a critical livelihood though FAIR WAGES for more than 250 women and at least 800 dependents.
2. SECOND, Indego Africa returns 100% OF PROFITS to the women’s cooperatives for LONG-TERM SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS in financial management, computer literacy, and English.
I think this is a great idea! So instead of giving the women fish, they (Indego Africa) would be teaching the women how to fish, in the long-run. This might work well in gh, with little changes here and there ![]()
